The Pantone Color of the Year 2022 is official and as in the previous year, Pantone is again causing a surprise. For the first time the Pantone Color Institute has created a brand new shade for its Color of the Year 2022: Very Peri; or more precisely PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri.

The Pantone Color of the Year 2022 Very Peri is “a dynamic periwinkle blue hue with a vivifying violet red undertone” and follows the colour duo of 2021, Ultimate Gray and the bright yellow tone Illuminating. The new colour is inspired, for example, by trends from fashion, society, sport, social media and, without a doubt, the digital world, especially gaming.

The colour is the “happiest and warmest of all the blue hues,” blending the “faithfulness and constancy of blue with the energy and excitement of red” to deliver an “empowering mix of newness” with a “carefree confidence and a daring curiosity that animates our creative spirit,” the company stated in a press release.
